Workshop on first aid
The “Fleur de l’orient” in collaboration with the National Education Scouts conducted an awareness workshop on first aid due to the current circumstances in the country.
the basic steps for providing first aid:
- Ensure safety: Confirm the safety of the area before starting to administer first aid. You may need to take measures to protect against potential hazards.
- Assess the situation: Evaluate the situation to determine the type of first aid required. Check for injuries or health issues and assess the general condition of the injured person.
- Call for medical assistance: If the condition is serious or requires specialized medical care, call emergency medical services or seek medical help from nearby individuals.
- Ensure personal safety: Ensure your own personal safety before providing first aid. Wear gloves and follow personal hygiene procedures to reduce the risk of infection.
- Stop the bleeding: If there is bleeding, apply direct pressure to the wound using a clean dressing or cloth. Elevate the injured part, if possible, to control bleeding.
- Apply RICE for sports injuries: If there is a joint injury, apply the RICE principle:
- R: Rest: Provide rest to the injured area and avoid using it.
- I: Ice: Apply ice packs to the injured area to reduce swelling and pain.
- C: Compression: Use a compression bandage to control swelling and support the injured joint.
- E: Elevation: Elevate the injured area to reduce swelling.
- Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): If the person has stopped breathing or does not have a pulse, administer CPR. Follow the latest CPR guidelines and seek medical assistance as soon as possible.
- Use first aid tools: Use the available tools in a first aid kit, such as gauze pads, bandages, splints, tweezers, etc., as needed according to the situation.
